ENGLISHThis month came with learning attention to health, hygiene and being involved in healthy living practices. The students learnt about staying healthy, practising meditation, and sharing healthy hygiene practices. They all designed flow chart activities for handwash hygiene. The students also made narrative sentences to build up a story to practise for their writing skills. This creative pattern and initiation on building more and more sentences helped them to become proactive thinkers. They continued with the subtraction of 4 digit numbers with regrouping. Thereafter, they were introduced to Subtraction word problems using RUCSAC method. Students were encouraged to frame the answer statements and write in their notebook. They revisited both the number operations by giving revision test on Addition and Subtraction. Further, the concept of Money was introduced wherein the students understood the history and importance of money. They were engaged in converting rupees to paise and performed addition and subtraction operations on problems related to money. Inter-House Mental Math Competition - Final Round was successfully conducted enthusiastically on quizizz and the results were announced. Students also did weekend worksheets covering ongoing concepts with mental maths practice using quizizz. scienceLearning about plants and how green plants make their food, learners escalated and learnt about the eating habits of animals and children were equipped with the idea of nutrition and need of eating food. With respect to the eating habits- animals as divided into various categories- herbivore, omnivore and carnivore were discussed and recapitulation of previous knowledge was taken up keeping bloom's taxonomy as basis of discussion. A few ways of eating such as gnawing, swallowing etc were spoken about. Introduction of chapter light was done. Light as a form of energy was discussed. importance of light and how ciliary muscles and optic nerves play a vital role in vision in coordination of light. Food is one of the most important needs of a human being learners were asked about their experience on the journey of food and how important it is for them. Different pictures of food items were shown to the learners and they had to identify them and put them under a category which learners thoroughly enjoyed as this is something they experience every day. After the activity of identification learners were challenged with the question of the need for variety of food in our lives. The learners were also be taken on a 1 km market walk of ASIA’s Largest spice market KHAORI BAWLI through a virtual tour and see how the heaps of spices are sold in gunny bags. They saw and realised where their spices come from? And they could recall their previous knowledge about Delhi being a tourist attraction. After the virtual tour to spice market the question of History of spices was raised and it became a mandate to understand the historical perspective of spice trade and its effect, relation to colonisation of Asia and this was done with the help of an interesting video. A concept that is very known but we don’t pay attention to it that is ways of cooking different food item so a recap was done by asking learners to identify with the help of pictures name of different ways of cooking and which one is the healthiest. Learners were introduced with the concept of diversity by giving them a home task and find out about their native food item and they could bring the food to the class and share their thoughts on it which learners thoroughly enjoyed with lots of learning. As recap activity different food groups were asked to learners and then the concept of balanced diet was introduced with the help of a food pyramid. The chapter was concluded with the poster making activity on SDG 12 on Zero Food Wastage also briefing the learners about the RASHTRIYA POSHAN MAAH. Students were introduced to the Paint 3D software. Interfaces and tools were discussed in an interactive manner. Students enjoyed drawing various 3D objects using 3D shapes and 3D text. Revision was conducted for the previous topics through Kahoot and MS Form quiz. PHYSICAL EDUCATIONStudents practised: • Warm-up exercises like on-the-spot jogging, jumping and running. • Agility exercises like modified zig-zag running with cones. Students of grades III were equally distributed in different sports. They explored all the sports mentioned below: BADMINTON: Ready Position: Sidestep, Chase, Moving front & back, Lunge BASKETBALL: Ball handling, Dribbling, Passing CRICKET: Batting & Bowling, Fielding & Wicket Keeping FOOTBALL: Ball control & dribbling, Passing & Receiving, Shooting & Kicking SELF DEFENCE: Wrist Grab - Technique 1 (Same hand & Opposite hand, From behind same side hand) GYMNASTICS: Basic gymnastic skills in simple routing - floor, mats & other gymnastic equipment. Understanding the role of strength & flexibility, technique & fitness, and safety for self & others. Front roll, Back rolls & Side rolls. VISUAL ARTStudents were introduced to 3D Optical Illusion art, wherein they were demonstrated to convert 2D geometrical shapes and space into 3D space with shading. They were also introduced to folk art form from Maharashtra named Warli art as an integration with shapes in Mathematics. Warli art is a perfect example of rhythm, style and continuity. It can be made with stick figures and dual tone techniques. INDIAN DANCEDurga Puja, also known as Durgotsava or Sharodotsava, is an annual Hindu festival originating in the Indian subcontinent which reveres and pays homage to the Hindu goddess Durga and is also celebrated because of Durga's victory over Mahishasur. Students learnt to dance to the tunes of Durga Stuti in classical dance style through various mudras, postures and various expressions on the song- Ya devi sarvabhuteshu. WESTERN DANCE"When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor; it's to enjoy each step along the way." The session began with a new dance style- Dandiya on 'Moti Veerana' song imbibing the spirit of love and devotion and giving them a basic importance and significance of Navaratri. We used freestyle body movements along with hand gestures and rhythmic foot movements to create a new choreography. They were also taught the basic levels of body like plie and releve. It is a good exercise for mind and body coordination, it also improves the body posture. WESTERN MUSICAs an introduction to the Western Classical era, students were exposed to some famous composers such as Lud Van Beethoven, Igor Stravinsky and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and their respective work. Ear training and harmonic exercises of Western Solfage were done introducing the pentatonic scale along with the major and minor and melodic minor notes. dramaStudents were engaged in all forms of physical activities to ensure coordination and physical agility such as The Human Knot in which children stood holding each others' hands and tried to stand up without untangling the locked arms. "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world" -Nelson Mandela International Literacy Day takes place on September 8 every year to raise awareness and concern for literacy problems that exist within our communities locally and globally. To spread the awareness students of Grade - 3D conducted an assembly on International Literacy Day. The focus of the assembly was to reiterate the importance and significance of this day. The theme for this year is "Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces”. Students and teachers took an oath to pursue this by judicious reading of books. A grand and graceful dance performance on the song 'Gyan ki Roshni' by Shankar Mahadevan struck a strong emotional chord among the audience. The assembly culminated the school principal Ms.Guneet Ohri sharing her thoughts with the young audience.
