They first related multiplication with their real life surroundings and identified that repeated addition can be used to create multiplication tables. They were introduced to keyterms and keywords related to multiplication. Thereafter, properties of multiplication were taken one by one and discussed briefly with the children. The students learnt short tricks to multiply any number by 10,100 and 1000.The concept of vertical multiplication was introduced to the children where in the multiplicands were of 2,3 and 4 digit numbers and multiplier was a 1 digit number. Taking learning further to an experiential mode and as a part of Math,Science and Art Integration, a parent walk-in exhibition was organised where the little educators taught the basic operations of mathematics, Shin Program and mental math to their parents beautifully. SCIENCEThe month started with the recap of light and sources of light. Luminous and non-luminous were introduced to the kids by giving them the real-life examples. Students learnt how to segregate the objects on the basis of light producer and light reflector. Followed by this they learnt that sun is a light producer and moon is a light reflector. Our young ones made solar and lunar eclipse for the better understanding of the concept. They also learnt that “how shadow is formed “by a class activity. With another activity kids learnt that shadow changes its length during different time of the day. Different kinds of sound were discussed and with the different examples students divided the sound in pleasant and unpleasant category. After a little brainstorming and group discussion they came up with the beautiful ideas that how noise can be reduced. They also learnt about the force with real life examples. Kids enthusiastically participated in the game called “ which force am I? “and understood that the force is a push or a pull. Friction was also discussed to made students aware that how friction plays an important role in our everyday life and how it affects when it is reduced or increased. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOIGOT88Aqc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qN0V0NXV3Kw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cca5DaNs98w Social Studieshis month started with a recap learning related to How students come to school every day with an emphasis on their prior knowledge of the means of transport. wherein our little environmentalists learnt about the various means and modes of transport. The new topic’s initiation was done by asking thought provoking questions to build the importance of communication and its evolution. Learners talked about various types of communication and what role it has on our day to day lives also how it has changed the world around us. They made beautiful decorations and filled contrasting colours to enhance the theme. Students also completed their Warli Art composition which was displayed in Parent Walk-in. Parent Walk inA parent walk-in was organised for grades III- V where our brilliant Suncitizens exhibited their Math and Science projects. The parents were left mesmerised looking at the prowess with which the students presented their projects and explained the concepts to their “parents turned students”.
Parents appreciated the “experiential learning” pedagogy demonstrated by the students. The subjects of Math and Science were integrated with Visual Arts and beautiful artefacts were created such as Mandala Art, Leaf Printing Art, Sand Box Illumination Art and many more exceptional pieces.
