ENGLISHThe school reopened to welcome their blooming blossoms after a rejuvenating summer break. The kids were thrilled to share their experiences of vacation time and expressed with fervour about the happy days and presented their holiday homework. Learning commenced with recapitulation of their previous learnings. The children learnt about African Tales titled 'The Hippo and the Elephant' and 'How the crab got a crack on its back' under Animal Tales which was in sync with SDG 15 – Life on Land and Monthly Theme – Animals. This routed in enhancing the Multiple Intelligences such as Naturalistic, Inter-personal, Intrapersonal, Visual and Linguistic through various activities. Students completed Strategic Thinking Activity in which they designed the end of the tales. They grasped the concept of using punctuation marks in the sentences. They learnt how to use the dictionary and strengthened their vocabulary power and surprised themselves with the beginning of Robinson Crusoe’s adventures and are keen to know more in the coming months! The first week witnessed a detailed discussion on the Holiday Homework, having students’ responses and doubt clarifications. The students honed the skill of self-check in the process. Students recapitulated 2D Shapes and differentiated the same with 3D Shapes. They were introduced to various 3D shapes present in and around their classrooms, at home and various other places. Using the various 3D Shapes available, they learnt the properties of 3D Shapes, including the Faces, Vertices and Edges of Cubes, Cuboids, Cones, Cylinders and Spheres. They had a comparative study of the same too. They further had a thorough revision of Number System, followed by the Unit test. SCIENCEThe month started with great enthusiasm. They were all excited to share their experiences and the details of visiting different places during the summer break. They also shared their experiences about the salad making and the reaction of their parents given as Holiday homework. The first week started with quick recapitulation of the different body systems that the children learnt before vacations. Learning commenced with a game to enhance their concentration and were further introduced to the Nervous system and function of its parts i.e. Brain, spinal cord and nerves. Introduction to Circulatory System was done through Observation skill, by observing the Red and Blue lines on their hands and understanding what they are. Learners were thrilled to know about Heart and its functions. Further, Excretory system and Reproductive system was introduced and were explained about the modes of reproduction. Learners then quoted some examples of egg laying and animals that give birth to young ones. Learning commenced with the video by showing different kinds of birds and some unique features about them. They further studied about the different kinds of beaks, feet and claws in many kind of birds. They then made a comparative chart on various kinds of beaks and claws. Brainstorming session on the topic of how birds fly was conducted in the class and were explained through a video about the upstroke and downstroke movement in birds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPPV10wDNHA https://youtu.be/L-e5RzF8tcg SSTAfter a long summer break, learners were back to school with lots of energy and excitement so they geared up for fresh learning. Learners began the month of July with a recap of topics covered before the vacations. State of Haryana was also recapped with a video on the state and discussion on the same and map marking skills. Taking the learning further students continued the journey to other regions of India (Eastern, Southern, Western and Central), identified the location of the states/UT, learnt their capitals, location, facts, culture, food, historical significance and tourist destinations in the cities of Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi. Age-appropriate suitable videos, PowerPoint presentations and class discussions were the methodologies used in guiding the learning throughout. Students continued developing their Spatial thinking skills as they strengthened their map marking skills and plotted different states of our country on the political map of India in the Map Book. The month of July ended with the introduction of The Animal theme. The students were taken on a Virtual Tour of the forest where they heard different animal sounds and this was related to the endangered species where they learnt about the terms - extinct and endangered. This took the discussion further with them learning about Tiger being an endangered species and also our national animal. Learners were made aware about the situation of tigers in India and worldwide and why 29th July celebrated as World Tiger Day. Integrating this topic with drama, students learnt how to emote a tiger that is fearful of poaching. It was a wonder to see the lovely expressions and some comic too. The session ended with them understanding how important it is for us to protect the endangered species. ICTThe students learnt various parts of a computer which are basic and major parts - mouse, keyboard, monitor and CPU. They also mentioned the other devices which can be connected to the computer while discussion like printer, scanner, headphones, etc. which helps to enhance the use of a computer. We had class discussion on the uses of these parts to understand better. Also did the Brain Developer exercise to check the understanding. PHYSICAL EDUCATIONStudents practised: • Warm-up exercises like on-the-spot jogging, jumping and running. • Agility exercises like modified zig-zag running with cones. Students of Grade III were equally distributed in different sports as per their sections. They explored all the sports mentioned below: BADMINTON: Ready Position: Sidestep, Chase, Moving front & back, Lunge BASKETBALL: Ball handling, Dribbling, Passing CRICKET: Batting & Bowling, Fielding & Wicket Keeping FOOTBALL: Ball control & dribbling, Passing & Receiving, Shooting & Kicking SELF DEFENCE: Wrist Grab - Technique 1 (Same hand & Opposite hand, From behind same side hand) GYMNASTICS: Basic gymnastic skills in simple routing - floor, mats & other gymnastic equipment. Understanding the role of strength & flexibility, technique & fitness, safety for self & others. VISUAL ARTSStudents were introduced to drawing birds and animals using Graphic Art technique. They used their imagination to draw fauna using basic drawing techniques like handling of pencils, space utilization, contour lines, etc. INDIAN DANCE"I enjoy the freedom of modern dance as well as the constraints of classical dance." The month began with a choreography on a patriotic song in fusion dance style. Students enjoyed learning various gestures and postures with the peppy rhythmic song- "Satyamev Jayate". WESTERN DANCE"When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a centain place on the floor; it's to enjoy each step along the way." The session began with a new dance style- JAZZ. It's a good exercise for mind and body coordination, it also improves the body posture. INDIAN MUSICजुलाई में छात्र छात्राओं द्वारा की गई गतिविधिया: गायन अभ्यास: शुद्ध स्वर अलंकार राग, गीत - लोक गीत कजरी बुंदन बुंदन प्रयोग हुए वाद्य: तानपूरा, ऑडियो ट्रैक गायन तकनीक: गायन के अभ्यास की बुनियादी तकनीक, प्रतियोगिता में प्रस्तुति के महत्वपूर्ण बिंदु WESTERN MUSICIn their western music lessons, the students learnt: Vocal warm-up exercises with 5 notes of music in different scales In their Western Music lessons, students were introduced to Bucket Drumming and its basic techniques. An introduction to basic patterns of Bongo Drumming and different cascara patterns. DRAMAStudents learnt how to coordinate and function as a cohesive group through the Random Alphabet exercise. They were also taught about characterisation and given the task of coming up with 5 characters with unique character traits and quirks.
