EnglishDecember in Grade 3 was a month of linguistic exploration. We delved into gender nouns, unraveling the intricacies of language. 'New Neighbours' took us on a heartwarming literary journey, fostering values of friendship. Units 11 and 12 of 'Treasure Island' were dissected, offering insights into our reading adventures. Homophones added a touch of linguistic fun, exploring words with similar sounds but different meanings. The month concluded with students showcasing their skills in a class test covering 'New Neighbours,' Prepositions, and Punctuation. December encapsulated a dynamic blend of language, literature, and learning, marking a month of growth and exploration in Grade 3. The novel minds discussed the cons of Non-Standard units and related videos were shown and discussed. Students learnt about uniform and non-uniform, non-standard units of measuring lengths. Students learnt to measure length using a centimetre, metre scale and measuring tape. Learners got a fair understanding of different forms of measurement units for Length, Weight (mass), Capacity. They acquire knowledge about how to measure, add, subtract and compare different lengths, volume, capacity and more. They understood the importance of measurement as it helped in developing problem solving skills while investigating practical problems around them. Learners were excited to see a weighing balance where they measured weight of few items like eraser, glue stick etc. Later, they had fun doing hands on activity of measuring coloured water using 250 ml, 500 ml and 1 litre measuring beakers which helped them to connect with real life examples. Revision of chapters- 'Fractions' and 'Division' were taken to help learners have a strong hold of the concepts for the upcoming Unit Test. ScienceAfter the wonderful performance in the unit tests, learners moved towards the chapter- House and Clothing where they gained knowledge about the various features of a good house and how to keep their space neat and clean. They participated in an open discussion around the recruitment of fabrics through various animal and plant sources. They also marked on the map different types of fibres found in different parts in India in the class (Integration with S.ST). Also, they shared their knowledge about different types of clothes that we wear in different seasons and occasions. Social ScienceWinter season months are more about festivities and celebrations where our young learners are introduced with different festivals celebrated in our country. So, keeping that in mind our learners started the month by learning about the same along with the knowldege about their rich cultural heritage and importance of festivals in a beautifully diverse country called India. They learnt about the different national, religious and harvest festivals celebrated in different parts of our country wherein they shared their personal experiences of celebrating festivals with family and friends, as well as what they do for the needy ones. They also marked the festivals along the map of India with a good recapitualation about the states of India. For the first time, students heard and saw the famous speech of Pt. Nehru -Tryst With Destiny and the value of freedom for the country, it was a remarkable experience for all of them. Since festivals are all about buying new things and clothes are one part of it. Indian Musicदिसंबर माह में छात्र छात्राओं द्वारा की गई गतिविधिया: गायन अभ्यास: शुद्ध स्वर अलंकार गीत : गुजराती लोक गीत ढोलिडा , लोक गीत रवींद्र संगीत - मेगहेर खोले गीत । प्रयोग हुए वाद्य: तानपूरा, ऑडियो ट्रैक । गायन तकनीक: गायन के अभ्यास की बुनियादी तकनीक , प्रतियोगिता में प्रस्तुति के महत्वपूर्ण बिंदु। कक्षा ४ -५ दिसंबर माह में छात्र छात्राओं द्वारा की गई गतिविधिया: चयनित छात्र छात्रों ने खेल दिवस मे उत्साहवर्धक गीत का प्रदर्शन विभिन वाद्यों (हारमोनियम , तबला ,बांगो,शेकर्स , स्क्रेपर , घुंगरू , मंजीरा एवं ढपली ) के साथ किया। वाद्य - कांगो , बोंगो, बककेट ,टेमरिंड ,कलेप बॉक्स ,कीबोर्ड ,ढोल एवं ढोलकएवं तबला का प्रारंभिक परिचय , हस्तमुद्रा (तीन ताल ) एवं भजनी ठेका । Western MusicSongs and instrumental: 'Angels we have heard on high', 'Feliznavidad' Students learnt to play the parading beat with the rhythmic 'floor tom' followed with the 'arpegios' with piano and strings keys. Body isolations. 5. Students are still discovering how to reveal more confidence and self-value by learning Dance techniques. Practiced presenting a story with puppets 3. Learnt to create their own simple puppets 4. Acquired the skill of giving movements to their puppets 5. Learnt to give voice to their puppets through voice modulations Visual ArtsIn their Visual Art lessons: Students completed the art page in their SDG book. They also made human figures wearing winter clothes.
