ENGLISH In July, English language classes were filled with engaging activities and valuable learning experiences. During the first week, students predicted captivating stories from Animal Tales based on pictures and wrote imaginative paragraphs. They also embarked on the thrilling journey of "Treasure Island" by reading Chapter 1. As the weeks progressed, the focus shifted to mastering new vocabulary, comprehension, and grammar concepts. Students diligently prepared for their Unit Test-1 by solving revision worksheets. In the following weeks, they confidently delved into the world of verbs, attempting worksheet and textbook exercises to check their understanding. An enriching integration of Picture Composition with the scientific concept of Light and Shadows further enhanced their language learning. Overall, July witnessed remarkable progress and enthusiasm in English language journey. SCIENCE The month started with great enthusiasm . Students were excited to share their experiences of their summer break. The first week started with quick recapitulation of the Living and non living things and our body to make them prepared for the Unit tests. In the second week a new topic was introduced of light and sources of light. Luminous and non-luminous, natural and artificial light was introduced to the kids by giving them the real-life examples. They also learnt “How shadow is formed “by a class activity and learnt that shadow changes its length during different time of the day. They were also taken to the lab to see how the light works to form a shadow and observe different shadows of different lengths. The session was full of learning and hands on activity. Different kinds of sounds were discussed and with the different examples. Students divided the sound in pleasant and unpleasant category, and then they also came up with different ideas of how noise can be reduced. They also learnt about the force with real life examples and understood that the force is push and pull. Learners began the month of July with a recap of their learning of content covered before the vacations. State of Haryana was also recapped with a video on Haryana, discussion on the same and enhancing the map marking skills. Taking the learning further students continued the journey to other regions of India (Eastern, Southern, Western and Central), identified the location of the states/UT, learnt their capitals with deep dive into the location, facts, culture, food, historical significance and tourist destinations in the cities of Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi. Age-appropriate suitable videos, PPT and interactive sharing session were the methodologies used in guiding the learning throughout. Students continued developing their Spatial thinking skills as they enhanced their map marking skills and plotted different states of our country on the political map of India in the Map Book. The month of July ended with the introduction of 'The Animal theme'. The students were involved into the discussion on occupations and which occupation they want to be in and then realizing and understanding about various animal related occupations. Learners were made aware about the situation of tigers in India and worldwide and why is 29th July celebrated as World Tiger Day. . MATH Our young suncitizens explored the mathematical operation Addition in the month of July. A fantastic concept elucidation activity enthralled the children where they collaborated with their peers and identified addition key words. Moreover, they related those terms with their real life situations and framed their own addition stories. This month witnessed wonderful innovators .Furthermore, the students recapitulated properties of addition. They effortlessly added 3 and 4 digit numbers with and without regrouping. Later, they brushed up their logical-mathematical skills by participating in the "Mental Math Competition" conducted during the month. They were introduced to word problems for the number operations and were guided on how to solve a word problem using RUCSAC method. It was remarkable to see them working on 'Word Problems'. They themselves made their own word problems. Students enjoyed learning "Navras-Nine emotions". They also practised patriotic dance moves on "Bharat humko jaan se pyaara hai". Students of grade 4 learnt "Kalbelia- a rajasthani folk dance" integrated with Social Science subject for their Parent walk-in performance. DRAMA From enunciating intricate tongue twisters to crafting characters with distinct speech patterns, our journey through voice and speech was both entertaining and enlightening. Students embarked on a quest to master the art of voice throw, exploring the nuances of projection and resonance. They honed their skills in controlling voice pitch, using it as a powerful tool to express a wide range of emotions and personalities. Through captivating exercises, students not only polished their vocal abilities but also cultivated self-confidence and effective communication. As July unfolded, students discovered that the magic of drama lies not only in the scripts and performances but also in the mastery of voice – a skill that resonates far beyond the stage, enriching our daily lives. VISUAL ARTS Students were introduced to different types of birds and were asked to create a composition. They finished the first round of Inter-House Art Competition with great enthusiasm.
