ENGLISHIn September, our educational journey was filled with exciting activities. The first week started with an assessment to reinforce our understanding of adjectives and their degrees of comparison. In the second week, we continued our exploration of adjectives and also delved into palindromes. Week three was all about storytelling and reading "Treasure Island," while the final week included discussions on "Staying Healthy," spelling practice, and a creative poster-making activity. We're looking forward to the adventures that October will bring! SCIENCEThe month began with an introduction to and understanding of plants, as well as the various parts of plants. Students reviewed their knowledge of roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, and their functions. Our young learners also conducted an experiment on germination to observe the different stages of this process and recorded their observations. The concept became clearer through diagrams illustrating the shoot system and root system of a plant. To enhance their understanding, students were taken on a nature walk where they had the opportunity to observe different types of roots, leaves, and stems in nature. They further delved into the topic of soil, where they learned about various soil types. Age-appropriate videos, PowerPoint presentations, and interactive sharing sessions were used as teaching methods to facilitate learning. To expand their knowledge, students collected samples of different types of soil and presented their findings in class presentations. Students also engaged in discussions about the importance of soil for plants, animals, and human beings. SOCIAL SCIENCEThe students embarked on the journey of another most important and basic need of human life which is FOOD. Food is one of the most important needs of a human being learners were asked about their experience on the journey of food and how important it is for them. Different pictures of food items were shown to the learners and they had to identify them and put them under a category which learners thoroughly enjoyed as this is something they experience every day. After the activity of identification learners were challenged with the question of the need for variety of food in our lives. The learners were also be taken on a 1 km market walk of ASIA’s largest spice market KHAORI BAWLI through a virtual tour and see how the heaps of spices are sold in gunny bags. They saw and realised where their spices came from? And they could recall their previous knowledge about Delhi being a tourist attraction. After the virtual tour of the spice market, the question of the History of spices was raised and it became a mandate to understand the historical perspective of the spice trade and its effect, in relation to the colonisation of Asia. This was done with the help of an interesting video. A concept that is very well known but we don’t pay attention to it that is ways of cooking different food items so a recap was done by asking learners to identify with the help of pictures names of different ways of cooking and which one is the healthiest. Learners were introduced to the concept of diversity by giving them a home task and finding out about their native food item and they could bring the food to the class and share their thoughts on it which learners thoroughly enjoyed with lots of learning. As a recap activity, different food groups were asked of learners and then the concept of a balanced diet was introduced with the help of a food pyramid. The chapter concluded with the poster-making activity on SDG 12 on Zero Food Wastage also briefing the learners about the RASHTRIYA POSHAN MAAH. The chapter concluded by making learners aware of the transportation of food, what places they get their food from, and how long it takes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9U_EyjceIA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uchmFzHYNwo https://youtu.be/z2pBJ7HC4KY https://youtu.be/Z51bWG17m-Q https://youtu.be/YimuIdEZSNY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of2fueKTjsI&t=2s mathematicsThe students were introduced to another mathematical operation - MULTIPLICATION during the month of September. They first related multiplication with their real-life surroundings and identified that repeated addition can be used to create multiplication tables. They were introduced to keywords related to multiplication. Thereafter, the properties of multiplication were taken one by one and discussed briefly with the children. The students learned multiplication by solving mathematical word problems using the RUCSAC method. They were then introduced to another mathematical operation- Division. Learners were involved in an engaging activity wherein the division concept was introduced with a recap of multiplication. Learners had fun while making patterns using the shin kit and mathematical skills. Revisions of subtraction and multiplication were taken to give learners a strong grip on the concept.
